Mr. Kenneth Simbaya
Executive Director of Union of Tanzania Press Clubs (UTPC)
Kenneth, currently serving as the Executive Director of Union of Tanzania Press Clubs (UTPC) is a highly respected national media stakeholder, a strong human right defender, and a bronze winner of The Excellence in Health Report Journalism Award 2019. An award issued by Amref Health Africa in Kigali Rwanda in 2019.
Kenneth has worked as a journalist for more 21 years, and also overseeing important governance roles including serving as the President of the Union of Tanzanian Press Clubs (UTPC) for two terms, serving as Media Council of Tanzania board member for two terms as well. Kenneth has also served as a Board member of Tanzania Human Rights Defenders Coalition for two terms. Kenneth is also a co-founder of Iringa Press Club (IPC) he has also served as a chairperson of IPC for two terms.
Kenneth uses his extensive experience and excellent people’s skills to perform significant mediation roles, champion the freedom of press and the safety of journalists, advocating for reproductive maternal newborn child and adolescents health and rights as well as shaping the strategic vision of the media in Tanzania.>
Kenneth has published several articles relating to Reproductive Maternal Newborn Child and Adolescent Health (RMNCAH) issues. He has also moderated several sessions on RMNCAH issues as well as speaking as a panelist in several national and international events including World Health Assembly in 2015, World Health Organization (WHO) Partnership for Maternal and Newborn and Child Health (PMNCH).
